12. Deputy M.R. Higgins of St. Helier will ask the following question of the Chief Minister –
“Is the Chief Minister prepared to extend the time limit for the submission of applications under the Child Abuse Redress Scheme until a week after the debate on P.80/2012, currently scheduled for 9th October 2012, and, if not, why not?”
Deputy Pitman from this morning on the Radio.

Thanks for those two broadcasts TJW.
You MUST carry on.You provide an invaluable service to us all. Please have a re-think?
Thank you for posting the above I will have a listen later.
I am saddened that you feel unable to carry on as I believe the blog you provide is invaluable.
I hope you reconsider.
I'd like to endorse what GeeGee says. Often I cannot hear the States on the radio and these recordings by you on really important questions are much appreciated.
I notice you did not leave your usual quote ''TheJerseyWay would like to Credit & Thank BBC Radio Jersey for making these recording's posible.'' Can you say if you have had any pressure from the BBC about this blog and the recordings you post?
I really hope you don't stop. I have no idea why you have come to this conclusion but your service has been brilliant over the few years or more I have been using your website. I bide my time normally before making my opinion until I have listened to your recordings.
It's up to you though when it boils down to it so if you decide not to continue I will just say thanks for all the effort you have put in over the years, you will certainly be missed.
Good luck for the future (if you do stop) and thanks for making the effort.
Dear Jersey Way,
I don't know who you are but I'm a Jersey girl, living in the south of France, trying to make sense of what's going wrong in the isle of my birth.Knowing the pressure of living on that tiny rock I would be the last person to try and convince you to carry on just for the benefit of others. I would just like to say that your recordings have been a lifeline to me.
Thank you.
Please think about going on. I really value your blog site and hope you will re-consider.
Best wishes.
It's really useful having the relevant snippets to listen to rather than wading through an hour of listen again to try and find when they were on. Please keep it up.
It takes a lot of work, and you have done the work TJW.
I have listened in because of the recordings you have put up for everyone in the world to hear not just locals.
A heartfelt thank you for you commitment, and for the abuse you have suffered as all good and true bloggers on the internet do, and take care, if you decide to return you will have a ready audience.
Boatyboy.
Thanks for the words.
I don't claim to do the work that the Voice for Children or Rico do, but the little bit that I do does take up Hours of time.
I had the idea to do this because people do not have the time to listen to the States & if you hear it once you would be lucky if you heard it again. Which I think I've been able to do till now.
Everyone that lives in Jersey has a problem at some time & I'm having mine now. It is just hard to under stand the majority of Islanders that can not see or do not want to see what is happening over here & this, at this time pisses me off to the point of thinking what is the point of doing it.
So that's were I am.
Hope you do not mind me bringing this over from Ricos blog.
Why did the States commission Verita, to produce a report on the child abuse investigation at taxpayers expense then, I presume after receiving and digesting the report from Verita Jerseys COM appear to have found those terms recommended by Verita too hot to handle, as such, Realising if followed it would be impossible to hide the failings in the Jersey care system.
Surely the public can see the serious waste of tax payers money is, to then commission another person to review the Verita report whilst at the same time using PR, State media and a bunch of adjectives such as, investment, change, family friendly, refurbished, open, transparent and ''safeguards'' to convince voters they are serious.
COM members repeating phrases such as we can't change the past or rewind time. But we can learn from our mistakes and create a better future.
I hope the future of Jerseys child care system is not based on oft repeated commissioned adjectives which at the end of the day are simply words.
TJW,
It takes courage and hard work to provide this service but it is a very big help to those of us off the island who are trying to call attention to Jersey's breakdown in the rule of law. I do not know how we can continue to access some of the information you provide here, without you. I hope it helps a little to know your work is greatly appreciated even if we have not yet met in person.
TJW - I think it fair to say that all of us who have reason to detest what goes on here often feel 'what is the point?' and get to a stage where they feel like giving up. Hopefully you will recharge your batteries and consider that if we all gave up nothing would change.
Everyones contribution however large or small is worthwhile.
People will have to start reading Hansard.

3.7.1 Deputy T.M. Pitman:
A supplementary, Sir. I should just point out that I did not attend that meeting and nor will I, because I believe they have a former Crown Officer chairing that who is heavily conflicted in the problems involved. My question is given the reality that for the past 14 years the Government and judiciary allowed the man to sit in judgment of ordinary decent men and women as a Jurat, even though the Sharp Report reveals that his judgment towards justice was so warped or clearly flexible that he was happy to help conceal child abuse in order to protect the good name of the school in which he was a teacher. Does the Deputy Chief Minister not agree that this is a matter of the gravest concern and urgency? I should say, Sir, to be fair to all the current Jurats, I am obviously talking about former Jurat [name omitted in accordance with Standing Order 160(3A)].
The Deputy Bailiff:
No, I am sorry, Deputy Trevor Pitman, that is completely unacceptable. It is out of order. You are not entitled under Standing Order 104(2)(f) to refer to a Jurat where his conduct is not the subject of the proposition or the question and your question is about the Royal Court (Jersey) Law 1948. You are not entitled to refer to him because the use of the name is not unavoidable and it is not directly relevant. I therefore direct you to withdraw that reference.
Deputy T.M. Pitman:
I do apologise for breaking Standing Orders. Obviously there will be naming in the proposition I am going to bring about in the Committee of Inquiry as to why this has been covered up, but I of course withdraw that at the present time and thank you for your guidance.
The Deputy Bailiff:
I also direct the Greffier to withdraw the reference pursuant to Standing Order 109, paragraph 7. The names are to be omitted from the transcript. Deputy Chief Minister
TJW your blog is one of the invaluable records by Jersey bloggers,a place where facts can be verified and an important contribution to the sterling work offered by local blogsites.
Foreign visitors might find it hard to appreciate how much Jersey bloggers put on the line to bring us accurate, in depth and factual information.
Whether you stop blogging or not, I would like to offer my thanks for all the time and energy you have put into bringing us this wonderful resource.
